From Phnom Penh, you can choose to go to Sihanoukville by bus, taxi or plane. Bus is the most economical choice, but it takes about 4-6 hours. Taxis are faster and more comfortable, but the price is higher. Flying is the fastest way, but the fare is usually the most expensive.
Accommodation choice

Sihanoukville is a vibrant tourist destination. Whether you are looking for beach relaxation or water adventure, you can find activities that suit you here. Plan your trip in advance and choose the appropriate accommodation and transportation mode, so you can enjoy an unforgettable holiday in Sihanoukville.
The most attractive thing about this city is the dazzling white sand and blue beaches. Walking out of the Millennium city of Siem Reap, and then spending a few days on the beach in Sihanoukville, munching on freshly baked fish and shrimp, and looking at girls selling snacks and children playing, the trip to Cambodia can be called perfect.
As one of Cambodia's four municipalities directly under the Central Government and the largest port city, Sihanoukville's main tourist attractions are:
1. Gaolong Island: 3 kilometers away from the urban area, there are 4 beaches with gentle slopes, clear water and fine waves. It is only knee-deep when traveling 50 meters, and the air is fresh and pollution-free. It is an ideal holiday destination for diving, swimming and sunbathing, and it is also very suitable for parents and children to travel.
2. Dragon Island: Located one hour southeast of Sihanoukville, the island belongs to overseas Chinese in Chaozhou, and there are many amusement facilities on the island, which is very suitable for China tourists.
3. Mt.Bokor: Mount Bokor is a national forest park in Cambodia, with lush vegetation, waterfalls and quiet environment.
Other famous scenic spots:
Oche Beach, Soka Beach, Independence Beach, Victory Beach, Bamboo Island, (Kampot Resort). The northern end of Occheuteal Beach is Serendipity Beach, a safe haven for backpackers, so it is undoubtedly the most popular beach here. It's beautiful here, but it's not always quiet. If you stroll south, the number of people will gradually decrease. After crossing the small cape at the southern end of the beach, you will see an empty white sand in front of you. This is the reward for your diligent exploration-OTRES Beach. Shengli beach is close to the main gathering place of backpackers, but it is dirty, from which you can look at the port. Lamherkay, Koh Pos, Independence Beach and Sokha are other beaches worth mentioning, but the latter two beaches are closed to the public.
There are countless islands in the nearby waters, but only Zhudao has some simple bungalows. Many hotels arrange boats to visit the seaside islands, and the fee is about US10, including lunch and snorkeling equipment; Although it is not comparable to the famous Mama Hanh's in Nha Trang, Vietnam, it is just as interesting. Koh Rong Island is the best place to go here, but you need to go in groups. Traveling to the island and staying overnight takes about US19 every day.
Perhaps it is because of the "clever" practice of fishing by frying yao in the past that underwater activities in the waters around Sihanoukville are not as enviable as those in Indonesia and Thailand. However, as long as you are willing to take a little risk and spend the night in Koh Tang Island, your efforts will bring you a little more excitement. There are three reputable diving operators in Sihanoukville.
Chez Claude (Tel: 012-824870) has the longest history in the city, and its boss Claude knows the local waters as well as anyone else. Now it has closed down.
EcoSea Dive(Tel:012-654104; ) offers diving or snorkeling tours and PADI-certified courses. The center is jointly run by Japanese and Cambodians.
Scuba Nation(Tel:012-604680; This is the first diving center in Cambodia to operate PADI certification. The common languages of the center are English, Chinese, French, German and Dutch. Compared with Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Sihanoukville Port is less developed, but the scenic spots are better. Generally, tuktuk is 1-2 dollars, and motorcycles are around 2000 riels. Sihanoukville's coastal tourism is mainly divided into four types.
The first is island tour, which is divided into two types, each of which lasts about half a day, from 9 am to 3: 30 pm, and you can choose it as required. When you arrive in Sihanoukville, you can immediately choose an island tour route, which is used by a special company. The price is reasonable, about 50 dollars (see the illustration for details), including mineral water and barbecue lunch at noon. Note that it is great to book a tour directly from the hotel and have a car to the beach in the morning. Gaolong Island, Longdao and Zhudao are recommended.
The second is to take a lazy rest and bask in the sun by the sea, and the beach is good. Several roads are characteristic shops. Choose one at will, swim, beach volleyball, have a drink when you are tired, and enjoy the seafood of local vendors. The beach will stay open until after 12 o'clock at night, just bars, music, BBQ and so on, the cool sea breeze at night, the stars, and the Cambodian boys who catch the sea.
The third choice is to see the fishing port, and you have to cross several hills (Sihanoukville, like Qingdao, has undulating terrain). There are many large container trucks near the harbor, so please pay attention to safety. The fishing port will go early and arrive at dawn, and it will be very prosperous. The fish from the seaside will be sent to all parts of the country, including Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Go after 8 o'clock, and it will be empty. The tour time is about 1.5 hours.
The last choice is the Baitou Waterfall, which is more than ten kilometers away. After half of the NH4 highway, it will turn to a red soil road, which is dusty and the ticket will cost 3-4 dollars.
It is said that this is the most beautiful waterfall in Cambodia, but I went there at the end of the dry season. The water is not rich and the scenery is average. Maybe the scenery will be more beautiful if you go in the rainy season. The voltage is-220V, and the socket can be flat or round. In fact, many household appliances can already set 220 V or 110V, so it is worth noting that the plug problem is not so important. The plug of Taiwan Province can be used in Cambodian socket without any problem.
People who live in Hotel should bring their own hair dryers. It's not that the locals are not prepared. It's really that the locals don't use that kind of thing.
Toilet-there are public toilets along the road, which are free to enter by pass, but they are not in temples, and sometimes they are a little far away. So if you want to go to the toilet, you'd better tell your driver in advance so that he can take you there. With toilet paper, the light is dim, but it is clean, and the equipment is still a famous brand like TOTO! If you have a toilet, you must go to it quickly.
