Blog / 11/22/2024

Before traveling to the desert, you need to prepare the following necessities:

Sunscreen products: The desert area has strong sunshine and high ultraviolet radiation, so you must bring sunscreen, sunglasses and wide-brimmed hat to protect your skin from harm.

Lightweight clothes: Because the temperature in the desert changes greatly, it is hot in the day and cold at night, it is recommended to wear light and breathable clothes, such as long-sleeved shirts, shorts and sports shoes. At the same time, take a coat or shawl for use at night.

Water and food: When traveling in the desert, it is very important to keep water intake. Bring enough water and high-energy foods, such as nuts, energy bars and dried fruits, to supplement physical strength and maintain water balance.

Sand-proof articles: There is a big sandstorm in the desert area, so it is recommended to carry sand-proof articles such as masks, goggles and hats to protect the respiratory tract and eyes from the stimulation of sand dust.

Navigation tools: desert areas often have no clear road signs and are easy to get lost. Take navigation tools such as maps, compasses and GPS to ensure that you can find the right route.

First aid kit: Accidents may happen during travel, so it is necessary to carry a basic first aid kit. Including band-AIDS, sterilized cotton balls, painkillers and bandages.

Communication equipment: When traveling in the desert, the cell phone signal may be unstable or unacceptable. Take spare batteries, chargers, portable radios and other communication equipment, so as to ask for help with teammates or in an emergency.

Sleeping bags and tents: If you plan to camp in the desert for the night, it is necessary to bring sleeping bags and tents suitable for the desert environment. Choose equipment that is light, warm and easy to build.

Personal hygiene products: including personal hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels, paper towels and wet wipes to keep them clean and comfortable.

Other necessary items: according to personal needs, you can also consider carrying other necessary items such as camera, charging treasure, mosquito repellent, rain gear and flashlight.

In short, before traveling to the desert, you need to make full preparations to ensure that you can cope with various environments and emergencies to ensure the safety and comfort of your trip.

Badain Jaran Desert, Tengger Desert, Wulanbuhe Desert, Kubuqi Desert, Shapotou Desert Tourist Area and Taklimakan Desert.

I. Badain Jaran Desert

Located in the north of Alashan Right Banner in Inner Mongolia, there are many tall sand mountains. The highest sand mountain in Peru is called "Desert Everest". There are also 144 desert lakes in the desert, inhabited by various birds, and the desert oasis is the wonder of Badain Jaran.

Second, Tengger Desert

Located in the southwest of Alashan Zuoqi in Inner Mongolia, it is the desert closest to Bayanhaote in Zuoqi. After arriving at Bayanhaote in Zuoqi, you can "surf" in Tengger Desert the next day and enjoy the exciting feeling of jeep sprinting through the desert. If time is tight, you can go in and out on the same day, or you can camp in the desert and experience the prosperity of the desert night sky.

Iii. Ulan Buh Desert

Located in the northeast of Alashan Zuoqi, the desert area is small, with quicksand in the south, ridge-shaped sand dunes in the middle and fixed and semi-fixed sand dunes in the north. There is basically no tourism development, the conditions are very difficult, and there are not many herders and herdsmen in the area. It belongs to the relatively primitive static land and Haloxylon forest reserve, which is suitable for environmental and ecological protection education or desert ecological landform experience and scientific research, as well as desert exploration, but ordinary tourists are not advised to rush there. Desert crossing professionals or desert adventure travelers usually choose Wulanbuhe Desert as their destination.

Iv. Kubuqi Desert

Located in the northern part of Ordos Plateau, it is the desert closest to Beijing. The real core area of Kubuqi Desert is located in the northwest of Hangjinqi, Erdos City, the western part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The most representative area is located between Yemingsha and Qixing Lake. Other areas are all grassland and sand dunes, which cannot be called desert.

V Shapotou Desert Tourist Area

The southern edge of Tengger Desert, 20 kilometers west of Zhongwei County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, is a national nature reserve, which integrates desert, Yellow River, mountains, oases, railways, highways and shelterbelts and is famous for its achievements in sand control. Shapotou has four characteristics: First, it slides sand, with a slope of 60 degrees. When you slide down from the sand slope, you can feel the sand ringing.

6. Taklimakan Desert

Located in the center of Tarim Basin, it is the second largest desert in the world after the Sahara Desert in Africa, and it is also the largest mobile dune desert in the world. "Taklimakan" means "abandoned hometown" in Uighur, also known as "sea of death". Here, the pyramid-shaped sand dunes stand 300 meters above the plain, and the height of the sand wall blown by the strong wind can reach three times.
