Egyptian desert tourism

Blog / 11/18/2024

Egypt spans Asia and Africa, and most of it is located in the northeast of Africa. The country is dry and has little rain, and the average annual precipitation is less than 50 mm. The climate type is divided into two parts, the southern part belongs to tropical desert climate, the summer temperature is high, and the temperature difference between day and night is large. The Nile Delta and the northern coastal areas belong to the subtropical Mediterranean climate, and the climate is relatively mild. The average temperature is 9-19℃ in winter, and 22-34℃ in summer. From March to May, the new sandstorm blows, three to four times a year, lasting several hours to one day at a time. By then, the airport will be closed and the plane can't take off, but neither the bus nor the railway will be affected. Therefore, the best travel season to Egypt is around October and February. During this period, the weather in Egypt is not too hot, which is the peak season for tourism in Egypt, so you can easily get on the road. In addition, from the beginning of October to the beginning of November every year is Ramadan in Egypt, so you should try to avoid traveling to Egypt at this time. During this month, from 5: 00 a.m. to 5: 00 p.m., no food, no water and no smoking are allowed. Many shops and companies are closed, restaurants and cafes are closed, and lively nightlife begins at night. If tourists travel to Egypt in winter, they should prepare woolen clothes to keep warm. In spring and autumn, they should wear some daily blended clothes. In summer, they should wear light-colored, breathable and sweat-absorbent cotton clothes, long-sleeved trousers as far as possible, so as not to expose their skin to the sun to avoid sunburn, and they should also prepare a warm coat, because it is still very cold in the desert at night.

I know this! For me who love to travel, Egypt is a place that people can't forget to return. At that time, I collected some information about Egypt's must-see attractions. Now I will share the information of the top ten must-see attractions in Egypt with the needy friends ~

6. pyramid of khufu

brief introduction

Pyramid of khufu was built about 2580 years ago and completed in 2560 years ago. It is the largest and most famous pyramid in the world, and it is also the largest single ancient building object in the world. It was built with 2.3-2.5 million pieces of limestone, representing ancient civilization and mystery. It is now 138.74 meters high (the original height is 146.59 meters, about 50 stories high, but the height has dropped due to years of weathering and earthquake damage). Pyramid of khufu was the tallest building in the world for more than 4,000 years before the completion of the Eiffel Tower in 1889. The extraordinary shape and perfect geometric angle make this magnificent building full of mystery.

Around pyramid of khufu, there are some members of the royal family (the queen, the wife of Khufu and the elder sister of Khufu) and some cemeteries of dignitaries, which look like stars holding the moon from a distance, setting off the unparalleled power of pyramid of khufu. You know, being buried next to Pharaoh at that time was the greatest favor and reward that Pharaoh gave to his family and important officials.

In principle, climbing is forbidden outside pyramid of khufu, but if you don't take the stairs and climb the first few floors, the police will generally leave you alone. If you are really curious, you can also visit the interior. However, the internal passage is narrow and steep, so it is necessary to bend over and walk, and the air circulation is not smooth. More importantly, there are not all kinds of exquisite funerary objects in it-it is basically empty, so it is not recommended for the weaker body.

8. The colossus of Manon

brief introduction

On the way to the Valley of the Kings, you will see two huge rock statues, the colossus of Memnon, standing on the roadside to welcome tourists from all over the world. These two colossus are the statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III III and the only cultural relics left in the funeral temple in Amenhotep III. The colossus is 20 meters high, with feet 2 meters long and 1 meter thick. The two sitting statues have been badly weathered and their faces are unrecognizable. But it can still be seen that the whole Pharaoh is sitting on the throne with his hands flat on his thighs. There is another obvious difference between the two sitting statues. The one on the left is carved in a whole stone, and the one on the right is made of stones. This scenic spot is open and free to visit.
